Warehousing
Most businesses that buy flexible packaging face the same practical tension: the unit cost of packaging comes down significantly as order volumes go up, but committing to large volumes means finding somewhere to store the stock, managing it carefully to avoid damage and loss, and tying up working capital in inventory that may not be needed for weeks or months.
Our warehousing service resolves that tension. We produce your packaging in commercially efficient volumes — large enough to bring the unit cost down to where it should be — and then store it in our facility on your behalf, releasing stock to you as and when you need it. You get the price benefit of bulk production without the storage headache, the inventory management burden or the capital commitment of buying everything upfront and finding somewhere to put it.
It is a straightforward service, but for growing businesses and brands that are scaling up their production volumes, it makes a genuine practical difference.
How It Works
The process starts at the quotation stage. When we discuss your packaging requirement, we will ask about your consumption rate — how much packaging you use per week or per month — and your storage situation. If the economics suggest that producing a larger quantity and storing it with us makes sense, we will present that option alongside the standard per-order quotation so you can make a straightforward comparison.
Once an order is placed and produced, the stock is palletised, labelled and moved into our warehouse under your account. We maintain a stock record for your inventory — what was produced, what has been despatched, and what remains in storage. When you need stock, you contact us with a release instruction — the quantity, the delivery address and the required delivery date — and we pick, pack and despatch it to you. The process is straightforward and the turnaround on release instructions is fast.
Storage Capacity
Our warehousing facility currently holds up to 400 pallets of finished flexible packaging stock across multiple client accounts. The facility is clean, dry and managed to the storage conditions required for flexible packaging materials — controlled temperature and humidity, protection from direct light and physical damage, and organised stock management that ensures stock is stored, located and retrieved accurately.
Pallet spots are allocated on a per-account basis, and storage capacity is confirmed at the point of setting up a warehousing arrangement. If your volumes are significant or your product range is wide, we will agree a dedicated storage allocation so that your stock is always accommodated without competition from other clients.
Why Bulk Production Makes Financial Sense
The economics of flexible packaging production are driven primarily by setup costs — the time and materials required to set up a press run, prepare and ink cylinders, run through to colour and register, and reach stable production. Those setup costs are largely fixed regardless of how long the run is, which means the longer the run, the more metres of film those costs are spread across, and the lower the per-metre and per-unit cost of the finished packaging.
For a business consuming, say, ten thousand pillow pouches per week, there is a meaningful cost difference between producing ten thousand pouches as a standalone order every week — paying setup costs every time — and producing a hundred thousand pouches in a single run and calling them off over ten weeks. The per-unit saving on a bulk run is real and compounds across every order over the course of a year. The warehousing charge is a fraction of that saving, which means the arrangement typically pays for itself many times over.
We will always show you the numbers clearly so you can make the decision on the basis of the actual cost difference rather than a general principle. If the bulk-and-store model makes financial sense for your volumes, it will be obvious from the comparison. If it does not, we will tell you that too.
Stock Management and Inventory Records
Every client with stock in our warehouse has a dedicated stock record that we maintain and update with every production receipt and every despatch. The record shows the product description, the batch reference from production, the quantity received into storage, the quantity despatched to date, and the current balance on hand. We can provide a stock statement on request at any time, and we send a stock update with every despatch advice so you always know exactly what is in storage.
We operate a first-in, first-out rotation system as standard — the oldest stock is always despatched first, which is important for flexible packaging materials where the print and adhesive components have a defined shelf life and older stock should not be left sitting in storage while newer stock is consumed. If you have specific rotation requirements — for example, a product range that uses the same film structure but different batch codes for different markets — we manage that at the product level within your stock record.
Despatch and Delivery
When you need stock released from the warehouse, a straightforward release instruction is all that is required — the product reference, the quantity, the delivery address and the date you need it. We pick and pack the order, prepare the despatch documentation and arrange delivery to your specified address. Standard release-to-despatch turnaround is one to two working days for orders placed before midday. For urgent releases, contact us directly and we will do what we can to accommodate the timeline.
We arrange delivery using trusted logistics partners for both local and national deliveries, and we can organise export documentation and international freight for clients who need stock despatched to overseas markets or distribution centres. Proof of delivery is provided for every despatch, and we will follow up on any delivery that does not confirm as received within the expected window.
Who the Warehousing Service Is For
The warehousing service works best for businesses that have a regular, predictable consumption of flexible packaging across a defined range of products. If you order the same packaging repeatedly and your consumption is consistent enough that a bulk production run will be consumed over a reasonable period — typically three to six months — the service will almost certainly make financial sense for you.
It is particularly valuable for growing businesses that are increasing their production volumes and finding that the logistics of managing packaging inventory are becoming a distraction from the core business. Taking the storage and stock management off your plate — and delivering it back to you on demand — frees up your time and your storage space for things that actually add value to your operation.
It is also valuable for businesses with limited storage space at their production facility. Flexible packaging takes up significant space at volume, and many food production, cosmetics and pharmaceutical facilities simply do not have the floor space to hold several months of packaging stock. Storing it with us and calling it off as needed resolves that constraint without requiring a move to a larger facility.
Storage Conditions and Product Integrity
Flexible packaging materials — printed laminates, self-adhesive labels, shrink sleeves and roll stock — need to be stored correctly to maintain their performance and appearance throughout the storage period. Exposure to excessive heat, humidity, direct sunlight or physical damage during storage can affect seal performance, adhesive properties, print quality and dimensional stability. These are not theoretical concerns — they are the reason why packaging that has been stored incorrectly sometimes performs poorly on the filling line or presents badly on shelf.
Our warehouse maintains the controlled temperature and humidity conditions appropriate for flexible packaging storage, and stock is stored on pallets under cover, away from direct light and protected from physical contact. We handle stock carefully at all points — receipting, storage, picking and despatch — and we carry out a visual check on stock condition as part of the picking process before any despatch is released.
Setting Up a Warehousing Arrangement
Setting up a warehousing arrangement is straightforward and does not require a separate contract or lengthy negotiation. When we discuss your packaging requirements and identify that the bulk-and-store model makes sense for your volumes, we agree the storage allocation, the release process and the storage charge as part of the overall commercial arrangement. There are no hidden setup fees and the storage charge is transparent and agreed upfront.
If you are an existing NytronPackaging customer and want to explore whether the warehousing service could work for your business, get in touch and we will run the numbers for your specific volumes and packaging range. If you are a new client, the warehousing option is something we will raise at the quotation stage if it looks relevant to your situation.
